Boise State's College of Engineering gratefully acknowledges generous support from the Tidwell Idaho Foundation. Foundation support makes the Wind for Schools program possible.

Boise State seeks to become a leader in energy systems research, especially in the capture and conversion of those resources abundant in Idaho: wind, solar, geothermal and biofuels.  The College of Engineering has designated Sustainable Living as one of three major thrust areas, with energy production playing a key role.  The Mechanical and Biomedical Engineering Department has designated Energy Systems as one of three major areas of emphasis.

In coordination with the Office of Energy Research, Policy and Campus Sustainability, the College of Engineering:

  • Aggressively seeks funding for energy and energy policy related projects and research by building synergistic partnerships to address the national and global challenges related to sustainability.

  • Works with local and state government to provide an unbiased and informed view on the current research on energy, sustainability and the environment based on information gathered from operational, academic and research units on campus.
