Dr. Butt’s group is currently engaged in a variety of research programs including corrosion and sensors for navy and air force aircraft, synthesis of nitrides and nuclear fuel for the advanced fuel cycle initiative, joining of ion transport membranes, and development of materials for containment of molten salts in pyrochemical processing. Much of Dr. Butt’s current efforts are in collaboration with the new Center for Advanced Energy Studies, which is a joint organization of BSU, UI, ISU, and INL.
