Eligibility

An applicant must satisfy the minimum admission requirements of the Boise State University Graduate College. General requirements for admission to the Graduate College are available at http://www.boisestate.edu/gradcoll/.

  • Students who hold a baccalaureate degree in Civil Engineering from an ABET-accredited program and who satisfy all admission requirements may be accepted into the M.S. or M.Engr. Civil Engineering programs. It is important to note, however, that admission is competitive and the achievement of minimum requirements does not guarantee admission.
  • Students with engineering degrees in areas other than civil engineering will be required to complete deficiency/prerequisite undergraduate courses.
  • Outstanding students with non-engineering baccalaureate degrees may qualify for admission to the graduate Civil Engineering programs, with the understanding that they must take specified deficiency/prerequisite courses. Please refer to the Required Background Material for further information.
In general, deficiency/prerequisite courses must be completed with a grade of C or higher.  Specific Program Areas (see below) may require additional course work.

In addition, non-engineering students will be required to take additional courses in order to become licensed Professional Engineers in accordance with the Idaho State Law.
