2010- 2011 Officers
Caleb Fisher
Position: President calebfisher@u.boisestate.edu
Hometown: Boise, Idaho
Year: Senior
Why I chose Civil Engineering: I have always enjoyed solving problems and helping other people. I decided that civil engineering would not only satisfy my desire to learn new things, but it has also opened my eyes to many opportunities that I would not have had access to otherwise. In a strange way it is rewarding designing all the things people take for granted on a daily basis.
Area of Emphasis: Environmental/Water Resources
Extracurricular Activities: I helped design and am one of the welders for the Steel Bridge team, volunteering for College of Engineering events, Delta Upsilon fraternity, and volunteering at the Boise Bicycle Project when I have the time.
Plans after graduation: Right now I’m entertaining the idea of attending graduate school, possibly at Oregon State University, to study something in the field of water resources or hydrology.
Mike Slegers
Position: Vice President mikeslegers@u.boisestate.edu
Hometown: Nampa, Idaho
Year: Senior
Why I chose Civil Engineering: I chose civil engineering because of my strength with imagination, math, and science. I also enjoyed building things as a child (LEGO’s). Civil engineering was the perfect fit, plus you get to see everything you design.
Area of Emphasis: Structures
Extracurricular Activities: Steel Bridge Team 2010 & 2011, and golfing every chance I get.
Plans after graduation: I will be planning on continuing my education past undergraduate. I want to extend my interest in bridges and structures into graduate school.
Martika Flores- Ramos
Position: Secretary martikafloresramos@u.boisestate.edu

Year: Sophmore
Why I chose Civil Engineering: I chose Civil Engineering because I like working with people to solve complex problems.
Area of Emphasis: Structural
Extracurricular Activities: I’m definitely the type of person that likes to reach out and meet new people. In the free time that I have I like to go to Bogus and snowboard, hang out with friends or anything that can keep me active. I am also active with the Society of Women Engineers and Engineers Without Borders.
Plans after graduation: I hope to graduate in about three years and go on to graduate school to pursue my Master’s in Civil Engineering.
