Curriculum Changes
- CMGT 441 Safety and Supervision (3 credits) and CMGT 475 Project Management (3 credits) are no longer offered. All students must take CMGT 440 Construction Project Management (3 credits) and either the CMGT 441 Construction Supervision lab (1 credit) OR the CMGT 442 Project Management lab (1 credit). The CMGT 441 lab focuses on field supervision of construction operations and should be taken by students interested in the Construction Superintendent career track. The CMGT 442 Project Management lab focuses on resource and risk management, negotiation skills and dispute resolution, and should be taken by students interested in the Project Manager career track.
Students who are planning their curriculum based on the requirements of an earlier catalog (prior to 2006-2007) should meet with an advisor to make sure this curriculum change does not impact their graduation.
- All students enrolled in CMGT 440 are required to take the American Institute of Constructors Associate Constructor Exam. This is a comprehensive exam covering all aspects of Construction Management. Students are required to graduate within 9 months of passing this exam in order to receive their Associate Constructor certification. Therefore, students should not plan to take CMGT 440 until they are in their last, or second-to-last, semester.
- Physics 111 is listed as a prerequisite for ENGR 205 Statics, however, students may take both courses concurrently with a permission number from the ENGR 205 instructor.
Upper Division Stuatus – All construction management majors are required to apply for Admission to Upper Division. Those students who have not been accepted into Upper Division status will not be allowed to register for 300 and 400 level CMGT courses without a permission number from the course instructor. See the Departmental Policies web page, or contact the Department Chair if you have questions. |
