John F. Gardner, Ph.D., P.E. Dr. John F. Gardner joined the faculty at Boise State
in the summer of 2000, after 13 years of teaching at Penn State. He received
his bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering from Cleveland State
University in 1981 and his M.S. and Ph.D. degrees from Ohio State in 1983
and 1987, respectively. He taught a short course in mechatronics at the
University of Cairo, Egypt and worked for two years on the staff at the
University of Delaware. At Boise State he teaches courses and conducts research in dynamics,
mechatronics, and robotics. He is currently working on a new textbook on
computer simulation techniques and research projects dealing with rapid
response robotic telescopes and biomimetic robotic propulsion. (Read the
