Summer Workshops

The Computer Science department at Boise State University is involved in a number of great workshops for youth this summer. Check out the information below to learn more and register quickly as registration fills up quickly. Check back near the end of April for a comprehensive list of offerings!

  • E-Camp (Grades 8-9)
    Dates: Sunday through Tuesday, June 2-4, 2019
    Time: TBD
    Location: Engineering Building, Boise State University
    Cost: $300 ($350 after May 1), scholarships available
    Registration Deadline: May 1, 2019
    Enrollment is limited to 40.
    Description: Students who are currently in 8th or 9th grade can use hands-on activities and projects involving self-discovery, cooperative learning, critical thinking, and problem-solving while living on campus in a college dormitory. All food, housing, and recreational activities are provided

  • E-Girls (Grades 9-10)
    Dates: Friday through Saturday, June 7-8, 2019
    Time: TBD
    Location: Engineering Building, Boise State University
    Cost: Free
    Registration Deadline: May 1, 2019
    Enrollment is limited to 50.
    Description: e-Girls is a free overnight program for girls currently in 9th and 10th grade. Enrollment is limited to 40 girls. Workshops led by Society of Women Engineers professionals and college students may include: Biomechanics of Footwear, Packaging and the Environment, Virtual Worlds with Alice, Solving Forensic Mysteries, Physics of Rock Climbing/Rope Walking, A World of Career Choices, and more!

  • GenCyber Cybersecurity Summer Camp for Idaho High School Students (Girls Only)
    Dates: Monday through Friday, June 17-21, 2019
    Time: 8:30 a.m.-4:00 p.m.
    Location: City Center Plaza, Boise State University
    Cost: Free
    Registration Deadline: May 17, 2019
    Enrollment is limited to 25.
    Description: Computer Science faculty and staff will introduce and cement knowledge of cybersecurity first principles, increase the curiosity of the participants about the field of cybersecurity, encourage participants to seek further education in cybersecurity and motivate participants to seek a career in cybersecurity.

    Stipend: $450
    Registration Deadline: May 17, 2019
    Enrollment is limited to 25.
    Description: The 2019 GenCyber Teacher Camp at Boise State University is designed for secondary education teachers in Southwest Idaho and the Boise area to (1) create local cyber security awareness; (2) build a community of practice to promote cyber security for everyone; (3) design, develop, implement, and evaluate lesson plans for teachers in the area of security and privacy; and (4) provide cyber security resources and make them accessible to the community.
