Dick Sevier joined the College of Engineering in June, 2005. In his current position, Dick's responsibilities include setting up and maintaining research instrumentation for the college. His expertise includes component and system-level design and debug for mechanical devices and analog electronics. Also, Dick oversees the implementation of safety programs across the research and teaching labs here in the college and has an integral role on the COEN Safety Committee. He is a key liasson for COEN with Boise State's Environmental Safety and Health office.
Dick served as the project manager and lead engineer for the EPA's IMS probe project under Dr. Molly Gribb. During that time, Dick was part of a team that brought the probe project from lab device to a fully operable stand-alone system that has been deployed at multiple field sites and is now being readied for commercialization.
Dick received B.S. and M.S. degrees in mechanical engineering at Stanford University in '78 and '79, respectively. From there, Dick joined Hewlett Packard Co. where he was employed for 26 years as an R&D engineer and system architect. Over that time, he has worked on 25 different programs that include disk drives, enterprise storage devices and outsourced development of printers and scanners.
