Arturo Leon

Dr. Leon obtained his B.S. in Civil Engineering from National University of San Cristobal de Huamanga (Peru) in 1996.  In 1998, He obtained his title of Civil Engineer from the same university. In 2000, Dr. Leon obtained his M.S. in Hydraulic Engineering from National University of Engineering (Peru). From August 2002 to March 2007, Dr. Leon attended the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign where he obtained his Ph.D. degree in Civil and Environmental Engineering in May 2007. From March 2007 until August 2009, Dr. Leon worked as Post-doctoral Research Associate at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. On August 2009, Dr. Leon joined the Department of Civil Engineering at Boise State University (BSU) as Assistant Professor.

RESEARCH INTERESTS

ü       Hydraulic transients (free surface, pressurized and the simultaneous occurrence of free surface and pressurized flow)

ü       Urban hydrology  and hydraulics

ü       Artificial intelligence, smart hydraulic structures and real-time control of hydraulic systems

ü       Computational hydraulics (single and multi-phase flows)

ü       Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) and physical modeling of hydraulic structures  

ü        Sediment / Contaminant Transport

 

TEACHING INTERESTS
