Today's electrical engineers must be able to find solutions to new complex technical problems. They must have strong communication skills and be able to integrate technical concepts with practical applications.

Electrical & Computer Engineering students in the College of Engineering at Boise State University receive a broad Electrical Engineering education, resulting in a strong foundation that will serve them well throughout their careers. This basis includes circuit analysis, design, and testing, signals & transforms, semiconductor devices, microelectronic circuit design, digital system design, microprocessors, electromagnetic fields, electromechanical systems, communications, and controls.

In addition, up to six advanced elective courses, as well as a two-semester senior design project, provide each student with the opportunity to specialize in a particular field of electrical engineering such as communications, computer engineering, microelectronics, or power engineering.

The Department of Electrical & Computer Engineering offers one undergraduate degree and five graduate degrees. At the undergraduate level, students can acquire a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering (BSEE).

At the graduate level the department offers a Master of Science, Master of Engineering, and PhD degrees in Electrical & Computer Engineering (ECE). The program leading to the Master of Science in Electrical Engineering (MSEE) is a thesis-based program designed to prepare students for research and development and further study at the doctoral level. The program leading to the Master of Engineering in Electrical Engineering (MEngrEE) is a non-thesis program with a focus on professional development. In a similar fashion, the Computer Engineering program offers a Master of Science in Computer Engineering (MSCompE) and a Master of Engineering in Computer Engineering (MEngrCompE). The Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) degree is the terminal degree in ECE. Students are expected to conduct research leading to a contribution that enhances the state-of-the-art in ECE research and knowledge.

Programs in the College of Engineering are accredited by the Engineering Accreditation Commission of the Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology (ABET), 111 Market Place, Suite 1050, Baltimore, MD 21202-4012, Telephone: (410) 347-7700
