Shane Panter brings 16 years of experience working in a variety of technology industries to Boise State University. Enrolling at Park University in 1999 Shane completed a BS in Computer Information Systems (CIS) with a minor in management.
Shane enrolled in the Master of Computer Science program at Boise State University in 2008. While there, he was hired as a research assistant working on a STTR grant researching text annotation and classification. He delivered an active learning platform to allow the rapid annotation of text in order to build a robust training corpus. His thesis was in the field of machine learning and text classification.
After graduating Boise State University, Shane went to work for Hewlett-Packard in the Jedi Lab on the core framework team. He was responsible for the maintenance and development of the Energy Star framework on enterprise laser printers. Working on the core framework team allowed Shane to work on defects and features in both user and kernel space.
