I grew up in Oceanside, California and moved to Boise, Idaho in 2004. I graduated from Skyview High School in 2004 and attended Boston University for a whole semester before I realized that I definitely belong in the West. I moved back to Boise and attended Boise State University where I completed my BS in Computer Science in 2009. Immediately following, I began my graduate studies at BSU. My advisor, Dr. Amit Jain, and I investigated the performance of "Big Data" analysis using Hadoop, Hive, and MySQL - Hadoop and Hive as Scalable Alternatives to RDBMS: A Case Study. While studying at BSU, I worked as a graduate teaching assistant (TA) for the CS department. In June of 2011, I began my career as a Software Design Engineer at HP Indigo in Boise. I was a member of the core team for the Digital Front End (DFE) that drove our digital presses. I worked as the lead developer on our server diagnostic and reporting feature, simplified database transformation utilities for system migrations, and improved a wide variety of components in our software system. During my 3 years at HP, I gained valuable industry experience developing and refactoring large-scale and legacy software systems, coding best practices, the development process (waterfall and agile), testing, performance, and the value of team work. And just for fun, here's some good advice.
