FE Exam

Fundamentals of Engineering Exam Spring 2012

The Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) exam will be given this Fall on Saturday April 14, 2012. There have recently been major changes in the cost and registration process for the FE exam. It’s very important that you follow these instructions. If you have questions for the State Board of Professional Engineers and Professional Land Surveyors, they can be contacted at: http://www.ipels.idaho.gov . Undergraduates:

  1. You must complete and download the application form from the Idaho State Board of Professional Engineers and Professional Land Surveyors website: http://www.ipels.idaho.gov/applist.htm
  2. You must submit your completed application to tENGR 301 no later than 4:00 pm on Thursday, February 9, 2012 Note that the Associate Dean’s office certifies only that you are within two semesters of graduating – it’s up to you to make sure that you meet all the other requirements to take the FE exam.
  3. After you are certified by the Dean, you must pay your exam fee and reserve a seat for the exam by Friday, February 23, 2012. If you miss this deadline, you will not be allowed to sit for the exam.

Reserve your exam seat by going to: http://www.ncees.org and following the hyperlink for “Exam Registration.” Instructions for registering will be provided on the website. The exam fee will be due to NCEES when you reserve your seat and is not refundable; therefore, make sure that you are qualified to take the FE before paying your fee.

Applicants Retaking the FE Exam:
Applicants who have taken the exam previously and wish to be reassigned need to submit their requests to the State Board of Professional Engineers and Professional Land Surveyors office on or before January 10, 2012. Note that you should have received instructions from the Board concerning application for reassignment to the exam.
Graduates:

  1. If you already have a degree in engineering, you must apply directly to the State Board of Professional Engineers and Professional Land Surveyors website: http://www.ipels.idaho.gov/applist.htm. Your application must be postmarked on or before January 10, 2012.
  2. The exam fee is non-refundable; therefore, make sure that you are qualified to take the FE before paying your fee. You must pay your exam fee and reserve a seat for the exam by February 23, 2012. If you miss this deadline, you will not be allowed to sit for the exam.
  3. Reserve your exam seat by going to: http://www.ncees.org and following the hyperlink for “Exam Registration.” Instructions for registering will be provided on the website.
