On Thursday, December 6, 2018, the Boise State College of Engineering will be holding it’s 5th Order of the Engineer Induction Ceremony from 4:45-5:45 pm in the Engineering Building, Room 110. Dr. Eric Jankowski, Assistant Professor of the Micron School of Materials Science and Engineering and Dr. John Gardner, Professor in the Mechanical and Biomedical Engineering Department and Director of the CAES Energy Efficiency Research Institute will emcee the event.
If you are not familiar with the Order of the Engineer, it was initiated in the United States to foster a spirit of pride and responsibility in the engineering profession, to bridge the gap between training and experience, and to present to the public a visible symbol identifying the engineer through a ring worn by all members on the 5th finger of their working hand. The Order is not a membership organization; there are never any meetings to attend or dues to pay. Instead, the Order fosters a unity of purpose and the honoring of one’s life long pledge as an engineer. For more information on the Order of the Engineer please visit
To qualify, members must be one of the following:
– Senior undergraduate (within one academic year of graduation) – Graduate Student in EAC, or ABET – accredited program
– Engineering majors that graduated from an EAC, or ABET program – Licensed professional engineer
Above is a registration form which is due no later than Wednesday, November 28th to ensure that your ring is here for the ceremony, though late registrations will be accepted until Wednesday, December 5th for rings to be delivered after the ceremony. Lynn Olson does have some extra rings on hand from previous years. Please return the form to Lynn Olson in RUCH 101 along with your ring size for the 5th finger on your working hand. For your ring size check here, or stop by RUCH 101 to use the ring sizer. The cost to join is only $10 which covers your ring, certificate and pocket card.
Contact Lynn Olson if you have any questions, and we hope you will celebrate both your own accomplishments as an engineer and those of other Boise State students and faculty.
