Announcing the 2019 COEN Summer travel opportunities!

There is a new trip to Columbia planned this summer. We are looking for 10 students. It costs $1000 plus airfare, but there is a $500 scholarship available. Also, there will be an additional $300 scholarship available to 4 under-represented students. Questions? Contact Diana Garza.

  • Who: –10 Boise State Engineering students
  • What:
    • Engineering academic exchange between Boise State & La Escuela
    • Required F19  Boise State Engineering course “Globalization and Engineering Solutions” with Professor Tony Songer that includes required 1 week travel for Boise State students to Columbia in August
    • 4 groups w/students from both schools assigned an engineering ‘problem’ drawn from Colombian companies
    • Communication & Collaboration in person & virtually throughout F19 to create engineered solution to be presented at F19 Senior Design Day
    • Cost:  $1000 + airfare with scholarships (up to $500) available

  • Quala – food production company which manufactures an energy drink and popcorn
    • “problem” to be related to engineering team production & logistics  (mechanical & industrial engr, microbiology, supply chain mgmt)
  • Acueducto – water treatment and sewer treatment plant
    • “problem” dealing with nearly 4x increase in ton/day of biosolids which are contaminated with metals (civil, mechanical)
  • Millennium –  private company call center using screen bots, Robotic Process Automation (RPA), and mobile apps.
    • “problem” will be CS, Mechanical, ECE.
  • Endava – international company similar to Millennium
    • “problem” related to HR challenges looking for software specialists.
  • Possible other company in dairy industry
  • Looking for Idaho companies to compare Colombia to Idaho solutions
