Order of the Engineer – April 27

Order of the Engineer logoSpring 2018 Boise State Engineering Graduates and Faculty-

On Friday, April 27, 2018 Boise State’s College of Engineering will be holding it’s 4th Order of the Engineer Induction Ceremony from 4:45-5:45 pm in the Engineering Building, Room 110. Dr. Eric Jankowski, Assistant Professor of the Micron School of Materials Science and Engineering will again be the emcee, assisted by other members of the Boise State Order of the Engineer Link.

If you are not familiar with the Order of the Engineer, it was initiated in the United States to foster a spirit of pride and responsibility in the engineering profession, to bridge the gap between training and experience, and to present to the public a visible symbol identifying the engineer through a ring worn by all members on the 5th finger of their working hand. The Order is not a membership organization; there are never any meetings to attend or dues to pay. Instead, the Order fosters a unity of purpose and the honoring of one’s life long pledge as an engineer. For more information on the Order of the Engineer please visit

To qualify, members must be one of the following:

  • Senior undergraduate (within one academic year of graduation)
  • Graduate Student in EAC, or ABET – accredited program
  • Engineering majors that graduated from an EAC, or ABET program
  • Licensed professional engineer

Complete the Order of the Engineer Application April 2018 which is due no later than Thursday, April 19th. Please return to Lynn Olson in ENGR 101 along with your ring size for the 5th finger on your working hand. For your ring size check here, or stop by ENGR 101 to use the ring sizer. The cost to join is $10 which covers your ring, certificate and pocket card.

Please let me know if you have any questions, and I hope you will celebrate both your own accomplishments as an engineer and those of other Boise State students and faculty.
