Dr. Brian J. Jaques is a Senior Research Engineer in the Micron School of Materials Science and Engineering and the director of the Advanced Materials Laboratory, formerly directed by Dr. Darryl P. Butt, at Boise State University. Dr. Jaques has conducted research in the AML since 2006, starting as a graduate research student studying the synthesis and sintering of nuclear nitride fuels. Additionally, Dr. Jaques has been a licensed Professional Engineer in Metallurgy and Materials Science in the State of Idaho since 2011. Dr. Jaques works closely with the Center for Advanced Energy Studies (CAES) in Idaho Falls, Idaho and the Idaho National Laboratory through collaborative research. His research is primarily related to energy materials and nuclear enabling technologies, including: nuclear fuel synthesis, sintering, and corrosion, gas-solid reaction kinetics, mechanochemistry, particle science/powder synthesis sensor design, and mechanical behavior of materials.; Dr. Jaques is a graduate from Boise State University and is a Boise native who enjoys camping, fishing, and hunting in the great Idaho outdoors with his wife and children. Additionally, Dr. Jaques enjoys working on classic cars and tinkering on gadgets in his spare time.
