Research

Research is an important component of our program. Our faculty members are nationally and internationally recognized in the areas of novel materials, biological sciences, and nanotechnology. We promote close student collaboration with our faculty on funded research in areas such as nanoscale fabrication, shape memory alloys, DNA nanotechnology, energy, biomaterials, materials characterization, polymeric materials, and materials modeling.

World-class resources, including many new laboratories and state of the art materials fabrication and characterization equipment, fuel Boise State’s MSE student and faculty research. A highly collaborative environment that includes industry,  academia, and national laboratories cultivates innovation.

Students work on cutting-edge research topics of national importance, gain professional exposure and, ultimately, job opportunities through their participation in national conferences and collaborations with our faculty’s regional, national, and international connections.
