Our graduate programs offer educational and research opportunities in a variety of materials science fields, many of which include other engineering, science and medical disciplines.
The Department of Materials Science & Engineering offers three distinct graduate degree programs:
- Doctorate of Philosophy in Materials Science and Engineering (Ph.D. MSE)
Our program leading to the Ph.D is dissertation-based and is designed to prepare students for research and development at the doctoral level.
- Master of Science in Materials Science and Engineering (M.S. MSE)
Our program leading to the Masters Degree is thesis-based and is designed to prepare students for research and development and further study at the doctoral level.
- Master of Engineering in Materials Science and Engineering (M.Engr. MSE)
Our program leading to the Master of Engineering is not thesis-based and focuses on professional development
All programs are interdisciplinary and involve collaborations with faculty members from the College of Engineering and the College of Arts and Sciences with expertise in electrical engineering, mechanical engineering, physics, chemistry, and biology.
