Welcome to Materials Science & Engineering at Boise State

Materials science is the study of solid matter. You could say it is the study of matter that matters! Materials are necessary for modern life and include polymers, metals, concrete, glass, and ceramics just to name a few. Materials science combines several facets of science including chemistry, physics, and engineering to improve current use of existing materials and discover new ways to use them.

Our program includes hands-on laboratory experience and the opportunity to explore innovations in the use of materials and even discover new materials. We offer the following degree opportunities:
