- Students on the Greenspeed team drove their 1998 Chevy S-10 pickup into the record books in November 2011 with a land speed record for a vegetable powered vehicle with a blazing speed of 155 mph, making their diesel-powered truck the fastest vehicle Members of Boise State’s intrepid student club Greenspeed are now the proud builders of the world’s fastest vehicle that runs on vegetable oil. Dave Schenker, leader and founder of the club, was behind the wheel of the souped-up 1998 S-10 pickup for both runs at the Southern California Timing Association event on a dry lake bed in the Mojave Desert called El Mirage.
- Four students selected for NASA Langley Research Center summer 2010 internships; two teams accepted to the prestigious NASA Microgravity University program; and a student selected as the outstanding co-op student for NASA’s highly competitive Cooperative Education Program at Johnson Space Center
- A Boise State University research team along with a team from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) was honored as a runner-up in the 2009 Lunar Outpost Student Design Competition sponsored by the Pacific International Space Center for Exploration Systems (PISCES)
