High Performance Simulation Laboratory for Thermo-Fluids

Welcome to the web page of High Performance Simulation Laboratory a.k.a. HiPerSimLab at Boise State University. The research program at the HiPerSimLab transcends traditional disciplines. In our research we integrate fundamentals of thermal and fluid sciences with computational mathematics and high-performance computing to advance engineering applications while elucidating the underlying flow physics. Mathematical algorithm development, supercomputing, large-scale scientific visualization and data analysis are integral to our research efforts. Current research projects include short-term wind power forecasting for grid integration, threat reduction in chemical and biological defense, and computational acceleration of scientific codes using graphics processing units (GPU). Our group also engages in educational research to enhance instruction in engineering education. Over the years, our research program has been supported by NSF, NASA-EPSCoR, NOAA, Idaho Power Corporation, NVIDIA Corporation and Idaho National Laboratory. Our laboratory also leads the NVIDIA CUDA Research Center at Boise State University.
