VISION

SHPE’s vision is a world where Hispanics are highly valued and influential as the leading innovators, scientists, mathematicians and engineers.

Background

The Society of Hispanic Professional Engineers, Inc. (SHPE), founded in 1974, is a national non-profit organization that promotes Hispanics in engineering, math, and science. SHPE continues to expand at an aggressive pace and currently includes 135 student chapters with more than 6,000 student members and 36 professional chapters with over 1,500 professional members.

SHPE is committed to helping our nation fill a growing need for engineers and scientists in this decade and beyond. Our student members are working hard to achieve undergraduate and graduate degrees in engineering, math and science and are active, committed and involved leaders. As graduates SHPE professional members are often leaders in their own communities as part of a nationwide network. This network promotes the continuous growth of the member’s skills and experiences while they also serve as tutors, mentors and role models for SHPE student members.
