Software/Development Tools Setup
In order to do programming outside of laboratory, you will need to download & install Quartus II Web Edition (v7.1 SP1) and Nios II Embedded Design Suite (v7.1 SP1) from (link). These development tools do take some time to install. Once you have successfully installed Quartus and Nios II EDS, you need to install some IPs related to the lab, you can download this file from (link).
Note: Many external devices cannot be simulated using the instruction set simulator. You really need the development hardware.
