McNair SCHOLARS – for current undergraduates interested in doing research and possibly going to graduate school The Ronald E. McNair Scholars Program is designed to prepare low income, first generation college students and members of underrepresented groups in graduate education with effective preparation for doctoral study through involvement in research and other scholarly activities. MICRON SCHOLARSHIPSThe mission of the Micron Technology Foundation is to advance education, with emphasis on science and technology. Each year the Foundation awards four scholarships to Electrical Engineering full-time juniors and two scholarships to Materials Science & Engineering full-time juniors at BSU (expected graduation: May 2009). Recipients must demonstrate outstanding academic achievement and leadership ability. Applications are due February 20, 2008. Click here for application

NEW SCHOLARSHIP FROM ASEE - DEADLINE FEB. 5TH
ASEE is pleased to announce the opening of the 2007 application for the Science, Mathematics, and Research for Transformation Defense Scholarship for Service Program (SMART). The SMART Program has been established by the Department of Defense (DoD) to support the education and recruitment of undergraduate and graduate students in Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) fields. This program is used to recruit and to retain civilian scientists and engineers to work in DoD agencies and laboratories.

SMART Scholarships are offered to undergraduate, master's, and doctoral students who have demonstrated ability and special aptitude for training and education in STEM fields. Students are also provided opportunities to continue their research in civil service roles following graduation. Through SMART, we are proud to offer our research leaders of tomorrow not only an education, but a career.

SMART Scholars Receive:
• Starting salary/stipend ranging from $22,500 (undergraduates) to $38,000 (doctoral students)
• Full tuition and related education fees
• Health insurance benefits
• Book allowance of $1,000
• Paid summer internships
• Career opportunities after graduation

NOAA SEEKS APPLICANTS FOR UNDERGRADUATE SCHOLARSHIP – Up to $29,000 available to each student for studies and internships

The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration is accepting applications for a scholarship program in honor of retired South Carolina Senator Ernest F. Hollings who promoted ocean and atmospheric study and research throughout his career. This is the third year the scholarship is being made available to students interested in pursuing degrees in ocean and atmospheric sciences and education.

The 2007 NOAA Ernest F. Hollings Scholarship Program will provide over 100 college undergraduates up to $29,000 to further their academic studies related to NOAA science, research, technology, policy, management, and education activities; and to offer a related summer internship designed to provide a hands-on, multi-disciplinary training experience.
In support of these efforts, Hollings scholars will be selected from applicants majoring in a broad range of disciplines including: biological, physical, and social sciences; mathematics; engineering; computer and information sciences; and teacher education.

The NASA IDAHO SPACE GRANT SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAM comprises individuals from engineering, science, and education who work together for the advancement of science and engineering. Students interested in applying to the program must pursue a degree in a NASA-related discipline.

Program Goals
To identify, recruit and retain students in math, science, engineering and science / math education disciplines
To encourage women and underrepresented students to enter NASA-related fields of study
To increase awareness of NASA activities in Idaho

We offer scholarships up to $1000 per academic year, to be used toward tuition or registration fees at an Idaho Space Grant Consortium (ISGC) member institution. ISGC members include: Albertson College of Idaho, Boise State University, Brigham Young University - Idaho, College of Southern Idaho, Idaho State University, Lewis Clark State College, North Idaho College, Northwest Nazarene University, and the University of Idaho. Other requirements include U.S. Citizenship and a current cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher.
