Prior Workshop Materials

The following workshops have been held at Boise State University Computer Science department for secondary teachers and students.  Selected workshop materials are available to teachers and students by selecting the web link in the workshop description.

Computer Science Principles:

  • The 2017 EarShetch workshop for secondary students and teachers was held August 2-4, 2017. Computer Science Principles via Music using EarSketch introduces the seven “big ideas” in the AP Computer Science Principles curriculum.
  • The June 21-24, 2016 Computer Science Principles via Music, Art and Poetry using EarSketch and Processing to introduce the seven “big ideas” in the AP Computer Science Principles curriculum to high school teachers.
  • The July 14-15, 2016 Computer Science Principles via Music using EarSketch to introduce the seven “big ideas” in the AP Computer Science Principles curriculum to high school students.
  • The June 17-19, 2015 Mobile Computer Science Principles (MCSP) workshop uses mobile apps to introduce the seven “big ideas” in the AP Computer Science Principles curriculum to high school teachers.

Coding is Cool:

  • The June 23-24, 2015 Coding is Cool – Level 1 workshop introduces computer science and coding to high school students using mobile apps.
  • The June 25-26, 2015 Coding is Cool – Level 2 workshop introduces computer science and coding to high school students using Hybrid Art with Processing and Finch Robot.

GenCyber:

  • Two week-long sessions of the GenCyber summer camp were held for secondary students July 2018. Descriptions: Computer Science faculty and staff will introduce and cement knowledge of cyber security first principles, increase the curiosity of the participants about the field of cyber security, encourage participants to seek further education in cyber security and motivate participants to seek a career in cyber security.
  • Two week-long sessions of the GenCyber workshop were held for secondary educators June 2017. The GenCyber workshop enables participants to understand security procedures, practices, and threats regardless of their knowledge level in IT/CS.

For School Administration:

  • The September 23, 2016 Computing by Design workshop assists professional school counselors, administrators, and teachers nationwide with information and resources to guide moreand more kinds of — students to explore computing education and careers.
